What Grandmothers Wear To A Garden Wedding
What is your grandma wearing to your wedding?!
I'm so afraid my grandmother is going to wear something that is going to really embarrass me! I am having a beach wedding and I don't want anything to be formal except for my dress. I talked my grandma into wearing khaki capris and a nice pair of sandals, but what kind of top do you suggest? She showed me what she had in mind.....short sleeves button down with a dollar...brown and plaid....NO! Lol. Any suggestions ladies??

I only have 1 grandma left and as long as she is in attendance I do not care what she is wearing.

I would prefer a flowery top but I do agree with Ashley, however both of mine r living but i've only seen them like 5 times combined since I was born so I don't even know if I am gonna invite them or not...

My grandma was very fashion forward when she was young, well she still carries that in her! Of course now more conservative and age appropriate. So, I actually just called her the other day to ask her if she wanted to go dress shopping wiht my mom and I (mom still needs a dress) and if she had any idea what she wanted to wear. She knew exactly what she wants to wear!!!! A long, ivory formal dress. She is fitting right into my wedding colors and im so excited to see her dressed up! She rarely gets to anymore since most of my family festivities are casual. She loves dressing up and this is her time to show that off! I think im more excited to see her in her dress, all done up then me in my dress! Lol.

Wish I could post the picture of my grandmother at my first wedding. As I made my entrance down the church aisle, I got my first look at her ... white button down shirt, black skirt (no surprise as I never saw her in anything but black pants or skirt and white shirt)... pink fuzzy slippers and those pink snap curlers in her hair. Dang near fainted. Grabbed my dad during the receiving line (his mother) to ask WTF .... turns out she had heard that family pictures were going to be taken after the ceremony, and she wanted her hair to look nice. One of our favorite wedding stories now, but I was so embarrassed that day. Wish I could see her in those curlers next week when I walk down the aisle again.

My only grandmother won't come to my wedding because it's my second ceremony, and even though she didn't find her true love until the second time around, she doesn't feel obligated to come since she came the first time.
I was closer to her while growing up than I was to my own mother, and would have said the same was true to this day until her disastrous visit this past Christmas.
I say just be glad she's there, and wearing clothes.

My grandma's fancy outfits are usually some sort of brightly colored matching pants and top with a colorful scarf & she always looks fab! I'd let her wear whatever she wants!
I wanted to add that when I told my grandma we had set a date she said "I'll be there... If I'm still here!"

Whatever the heck she wants. She has a couple fancy outfits, so she'll probably bust out one of those. My other grandma will probably wear something fantastic, one of her hats, and red lipstick. Typical.

At all the weddings ive been to my grandmother and other grandmas of the bride or groom have generally worn a long skirt suit with a short jacket & ivory/grey/silver/lilac top underneath. You know the grandma skirt that goes mid calf? And the matching jacket with no collar but usually some embellishment or a brooch by the neck?
You could look for MOB separates & see if you find a top she can pair with neutral capris. Or if you want her to be more casual look for a business casual type shirt that seems comfy & see if she'll wear that.
ETF autocorrect mistakes that didn't make sense

Dloves - my grandma said that to me, too - If I am still around, I will be there. I just said, "What, are you planning a vacation or something?" :-)
I am going shopping with mine but she really can wear what she wants. It will be pretty casual.

My grandmother passed away. I have no reference for a casual wedding because FSIL's wedding is seriously formal.
Maybe suggest a nice pastel blouse? What is she comfortable in?

And yeah, my grandpa said "I'll be there if I'm still around" too! What IS It with them??? I just lost my grandmother (his wife) last year! But he's already got my wedding gift, and is looking for a nice suit jacket so I'm glad he's excited.

I think mine is planning on wearing a pants suit. She's very stylish for 80 so I'm not worried about it. And like the other girls said, as long as she's there idc what she wears.

I am very happy my grandmother is going, don't get me wrong! I wish even more so that her mother my Nanny would be able to be there. She worked at Neiman Marcus for years and was very stylish. She would be helping my grandma right about now. Lol. I don't want her to go out of her way to find something to wear for this one day, but I know that she very easily feels out of place sometimes, so I do want her to fit in and wear something she will be comfortable in.

My grandma had a similar reaction...when we told her the date..which was almost 2 years away, she said "oh, that's too bad. I really wanted to go to your wedding". Sheesh.

I'm fortunate that both sets of grandparents are still in good health & were able to attend& enjoy our wedding. DH only has one set of grandparents & aren't doing as well :/, but all still came happily & well-dressed!

Oh boy, grandparents.. my FMIL's parents both died this last year, never met them. FH's other grandmother may or may not come to wedding bc I'm not Jewish.. I don't really care at this point, she's welcome if she wants to come and we want her there, if not I'd rather not have her anyway. my maternal grandmother is coming, super excited and planning to wear a navy dress that my mom says is rather modern for her (I haven't seen it) and apparently finally found some shoes that didn't show too much "toe cleavage". wtf? as long as she's happy. don't know what my paternal grandmother is wearing, but she will be there, so I'm happy.
